Brunton Turret stands out as one of the best preserved turrets along Hadrian’s Wall, featuring an impressive stretch of wall measuring 70 yards in length and rising to two and a half metres in height.
This remarkable structure was constructed by the men of the Twentieth Legion, testifying to the skill and dedication of Roman builders in the region. Located approximately 20 minutes’ walk from Chesters Roman Fort, Brunton Turret offers visitors the opportunity to explore a significant piece of Roman history within easy reach of other notable sites.
The site is managed by English Heritage and is open to the public as a free historic attraction. While visiting, please note that farm livestock may be present and, at the request of the landowner, dogs are not permitted onsite.
