The South Tyne Cycle Trail runs between Haltwhistle and the source of the river South Tyne above Alston and Garrigill. Open to walkers and cyclists, its almost 23 miles (36.5km) It runs past the magnificent Lambley Viaduct, through riverside meadows and the wild moorland of the North Pennine AONB. The cycle trail follows stoned bridleway tracks, quiet country lanes, two short A road stretches and a surfaced, disused railway lines.
