south tynedale railway – the friendly railway
Climb aboard a train hauled by one of our heritage locomotives, for a ride through the beautiful landscape of the South Tyne Valley. Visit the mezzanine level of our workshop to learn about the history of the line and see what our engineers are working on. Chat with our volunteers who will happily tell you all about our railway, the highest narrow-gauge railway in England. With helpful staff, café and refreshments, accessible facilities, and well-behaved dogs welcome, it’s a relaxed, inclusive day out where no one gets left behind!
